Eynsham Carnival and Botley Fete

It was great to see lots of people visit our BikeSafe stall at the Eynsham Carnival and Botley Fete, despite the temperamental weather. Halfords kindly donated three bikes and goodies for us to raffle. All bikes have now been collected.

We collected many additional signatures from people keen to support our campaign and from those interested in taking part in the short campaign bike ride on 30th July.

It is clear that everyone is fully supportive of the path whether they are drivers, cyclists or pedestrians. It is also evident that many people choose not to cycle or walk on the road at the moment but, if there was a community path, they would do so. This would help reduce traffic into Oxford, increase traffic flow and have various benefits in terms of health and safety.

Planning Application

We are confident that the path will be built and expect the County Council to submit a full planning application by the end of 2022/early 2023. There has been a marked shift in the attitude of the County Council since the elections last year and the County Council now appears to be fully supportive. However, we need to continue to pressure the politicians to move this forward as quickly as possible and to lobby for the funding that would be required to allow the path to be built ASAP and before Salt Cross village, to benefit the residents of the new development and to mitigate the additional traffic that it will create.

We need you to write to the politicians at the County Council and your local MP to say why this path is needed NOW.

Campaign Bike Ride Saturday 30th July

We hope to see you at our campaign bike ride on Sat 30 July @ 10.30am from Eynsham Square to Westway Square Botley.  We will ensure it is well publicised along the route for drivers. All cyclists will be given the opportunity to wear bright cycling vests for safety and to promote the campaign.

We look forward to seeing you there on the 30th and please let us know by Monday 25th if you will be coming, so we have an idea of numbers.
